District Magistrate, South has ordered that, serving or selling of liquor in all the liquor bars, pubs, shops, clubs, shacks or any establishment will be closed everyday by 10.00 pm., with immediate effect till the election Model Code of Conduct is in force in Ward No. VI of Village Panchayat Orlim and Ward No. I of Village Panchayat Rachol of Salcete Taluka, Ward No. II Village Panchay Calem of Sanguem Taluka, Ward No. VI of Village Panchayat Balli-Adnem and Ward No. VII of Village Panchayat Barcem-Quedem of Quepem Taluka in South Goa District.

The above restriction on account of Bye Elections scheduled to be on March 25, 2023 and the Model Code of Conduct enforced from March 02, 2023 in aforesaidVP.

This order will not apply to those establishments, provision stores etc., which are required by law to be closed before 10.00 pm.

If any liquor shop/bar, pub or any establishment is found serving or selling liquor beyond the aforesaid timings, during the said period it will result in cancellation of licenses and the owner or offender will be liable for penal action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1908, Section 30 of the Excise Duty Act, 1964 and other relevant provisions of laws in force.
