  3. Faldessai commemorates 110 years of Sharada Vidhyalaya School in Cumbarjua

PANAJI: Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Thursday commemorated the 110th foundation day of the Sharada Vidhyalaya High School in Cumbarjua at an impressive function organised in the premises of the school.

Speaking on the occasion Faldessai recalled the efforts put in by teachers over the years to make the school an outstanding institution.

“This is a happy day today. The teachers, parents are putting in effort. Our vision is education, sports and health. You can see what all is happening in sports and the day is not far when there will be people demanding admissions in this school,” Faldessai said.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who didn’t make it to the function, as he had to rush out of station , as he was scheduled to be the chief guest for the function.

“I want to thank the Chief Minister, who usually comes even at a moment’s notice and comes on time. He was on the way, but had to go out of station. He truly pays attention to the education department as education minister. He always tells me, is everything going well in your constituency, if there is any shortfall do let me know and I will try and resolve it. But there are many things that are there, I do not take to him because whatever I can do myself, I do and will continue to do so,” Faldessai said.

Director of Education, Shailesh Zingade congratulated the teachers, staff and parents of the school for pulling together to help the school grow and earn a distinction among schools in the vicinity, while promising to make it easier for schools to request for and receive aid via a government platform.

“A School is a team — the headmistress is the captain… It’s not the English or Maths teachers who alone are responsible for the success. Everyone from the peon, to the lab assistant. Teachers are just like doctors in many ways. If a patient dies, then the doctor gets the blame, but if the patient survives then it is everyone who gets the credit. Same is with teachers, if a student fails then the teacher is to blame, but if a student does well then it is everyone from tuition classes to others who get the credit,” Zingade said while congratulating the school for completing 110 years from very small beginnings.

Zingade said that the government wants to launch a Vidya Sahaya Yojana to help schools place their needs for equipment and furniture which can then be met through those who are willing to give. We want to launch this scheme, Each school can put on the portal — and those who can give can come forward,” he said.

Local MLA Rajesh Faldessai recalled how at the last moment he helped complete the stage of the school through calling the contractor and asked him to get it complete within the night.

“We have to keep our word that we will get it completed on a certain day,” Faldessai said after inaugurating the new stage which he has built for the school.

Headmistress Ujwala Potekar also spoke on the occasion.

Faldessai also felicitated school staff and individuals from diverse fields for their exemplary contribution. ADEI Nisha Raikar was also present on the occasion.
