AITUC opposes the Notification dated 16/06/2023 issued by the Government to invoke the “Goa Essential Maintenance Act, 1988” prohibiting Goa STRIKE in the manufacture, packaging, distribution, and transportation of pharmaceuticals products and components thereof in Goa. Notification prohibiting STRIKE in the Pharmaceutical Industry is undemocratic, unconstitutional, ultra-virus illegal, done at the behest and in collusion with the PHARMA Companies, purely meant to compromise and trample under-foot the basic Trade Union Rights, Right to form Trade Unions, Right to collective-bargaining. Christopher Fonseca, General Secretary, AITUC.

The labor dept is de-function and is run by private Industries. There are so many issues of labor that are unsolved but we have not seen Labar dept involvement anywhere, not even Minimum wages have been not yet revised even after 7 years. We are giving an ultimatum to govt to say solve all labor-related issues or else we will agitate in a big way. Suhas Naik, dy Secretary. AITUC
