ALDONA: Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Wednesday inaugurated a 100 kva transformer at Vollant, Pomburpa. The transformer has been set up at a cost of Rs 25 lakhs.

Locals supported the location identified for transformer, Ferreira said.

Another transformer will be set up at Golna in two months. There is a request by locals for another 2 more transformers at Zorint Pomburpa and Ecoxim.

Ferreira said that there was a need of a transformer at Vollant due to frequent fluctuations which would lead to line tripping due to overload.

“People used to complain of frequent power interruptions and were demanding a transformer for several years due to damage to appliances. There were frequent complaints of low voltage and irregular supply. This will give relief to the people,” he said.

The underground cabling works have been completed and the line has been charged in the area, he added.

“This will eliminate the problem due to 11 kva faults. A lot of time used to go detecting the faults. The Electricity Department is doing a good job. I congratulate Chief Engineer Stephen Fernandes and other officials, and thank them as well as the Power Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar for his cooperation,” Ferreira said.

Present were Pomburpa-Olaulim sarpanch Sonia Chodancar, deputy sarpanch Shankar Bude, panch members Leopoldina Noronha, Maria Horta , Gokuldas Halankar and others.
