On the occasion of World Photography Day (19/08/2023), The Department of Archaeology in association with Prime Media Goa is organizing “All Goa Heritage Photography Competition – 2023.” The purpose of this competition is to identify historic structures of Goa having heritage value and to document it for the generations to come.

The event was launched at the hands of the Honorable Minister for Archaeology, Shri. Subhash PhalDessai in the presence of Secretary (Archaeology) Shri. Menino D’souza and  Director (Archaeology) Dr. Nilesh B.Fal  Desai.


This competition is open for students from the age group of 18 years and above. This competition will be held under the following three categories:

Category I – Protected Monuments and Sites – Will include Protected Monuments / sites of Archaeological Survey of India, Goa Circle and Protected Monuments / Sites of the Department of Archaeology, Government of Goa.

Category II – Heritage Structures – Will include monuments / Sites other than Protected Monuments / Sites. These may include old houses, caves, forts, temples, churches, mosques etc. which are built prior to 1961.

Category III – Sculptures and Heritage Objects – will include free standing objects, piece of art made up of stones, wood, glass, ivory, metal which is in existence at least for 100 years.

Participants can participate in multiple categories with not more than one entry under each category. Top 3 best photographs in each category will be awarded at the hands of the dignitaries. All other participants will be awarded an e-certificate. Last Date for Submission of Photographs in hard and soft Form is 24th August 2023, 5pm.

A State Level Photograph Exhibition is planned on 31st August, 1st September, 2nd September and 3rd September 2023 in which the best entry photographs of this competition will be showcased. The exhibition is open for general public and school students. The results will be declared on 31 stAugust 2023

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Each Participant can participate in multiple categories with not more than one entry under each category
  2. A Participants should be atleast 18 years of Age. (As on 24/08/2023). The Participants should provide a copy of self-attested Govt. recognized id specifying date of birth.
  3. The Participants should mandatory provide a caption in addition to information about the Monument, Site, Heritage Structure, Sculpture, Heritage Object.
  4. The Participant must submit their entry in A3 size Paper print, Minimum 300 GSM.
  5. The Participants should send a hardcopy (by hand / Courier / Post) and a soft copy (over email only) of the photograph along with the caption and information to:

  • Registration will be considered only once both hard and soft copy is submitted to the above mentioned details
  • Editing of photos is strictly prohibited.            
  • The Photograph should be original and Relevant to the theme.
  • Images should be captured in Landscape.
  • Pictures should be clicked on a professional cameras only. (DSLR)
  • Mobile Photography is prohibited.
  • No entry fees.
  • Judging Criteria : Creativity, Relevance to the theme, Overall Impact and lighting.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.

Entries will be accepted till 24th August 2023 at 5pm.
