The four day Bhurgeachem Fest workshop in Navelim, Salcette concluded on a high note with a buzz in the air, showcased Goan culture and heritage with various workshop and has been a celebrations of our tradition, culture and community spirit at the inaugural “Bhurgeachem Fest” at our lady of Rosary church, Navelim, on December 30th, 2023 curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes and
Dr. Gwendolyn de Ornelas and hosted by Fr. Gabriel Coutinho and coordinated by Priya Almeida.
All workshops have hugely benefited the children and parents, mollam, Rotiação, crochet, knitting, bonderam, choral singing, football fun, Navelim Sunshine band and the Global Goan Girls’ Ghumot Group.
After these hugely successful workshops, as part of the silver jubilee celebrations, Bhurgeachem Fest will be his 81st people’s’ festival.
What a way to start the new year, 2024, watching the children perform skills which have been revived and imparted to them at the four day workshop. The Bhurgeachem Fest will start at 5pm at Our lady of Rosary school playground.
The festivities kicked off at 10 am with the enchanting Kottieacho Nach performed by Priya Almeida and group with great enthusiasm and energy. A Unique candlemaking workshop was held with senior citizen villager, Matha Pereira, it was an engaging and informative session on the theme “Know your wax”.
The festam team and volunteers’ efforts has brought joy, learning, and unity among the children and the enthusiastic villagers of Navelim.
Fr. Gabriel adds, “ this inclusive festival curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes is to unite the people of Goa through tradition, culture and community spirit while showcasing our rich heritage”.
