CABINET APPROVES OTS SCHEME FOR DEFAULTING PWD WATER CONSUMERS

PANAJI: Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for defaulting PWD water consumers on the lines of OTS given for defaulting power consumers. The government intends to recover outstanding dues of Rs 125 crore approximately from defaulting water consumers. Giving details of the OTS scheme, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the consumers can avail the benefit of the scheme by withdrawing their cases pending before the offices of taluka mamlatdars.

The details of the OTS scheme for PWD water supply consumers will be uploaded on the government website, he said.

The cabinet also approved a proposal land acquisition for the construction of link road from its junction of National Highway-66 to Dhargalim Mopa Airport. The project will be completed within next one-and-half-year, Sawant said.

The cabinet also approved Land allotment policy for electronic manufacturing cluster at the Tuem village in Pernem taluka.

The cabinet also approved a proposal to extend the Debt Relief Scheme for mining-affected borrowers of financial institutions up to 31st March 2021.

The cabinet also decided to amend the Goa Daman and Diu Motor Vehicles Act so as to provide 50 per cent deduction in tax for commercial vehicles. This was decided since these commercial vehicles were off the road for the last six months due to COVID pandemic.
