CISF RETURNS BAG CONTAINING RS 5.50 LAKH JEWELLERY TO PASSENGER AT GOA AIRPORT

PANAJI: CISF personnel returned a bag containing jewellery items worth Rs 5.50 lakh at Goa Airport. Passenger Amir Zahan of Uttarakhand in a hurry and forgot her handbag at arrival hall of the airport.

On Sunday, November 22 at around 8:30 pm, constable Maqsood Ali of CISF, who was deployed at arrival hall area of Goa Airport, noticed an unattended bag laying near arrival belt number-3. He asked the nearby passengers but no one came forward to claim the bag. Immediately, he informed the message to control room in-charge who in turn directed to CISF BDDS team to rush to the spot.

Ali also informed the matter to senior officers of CISF and cordoned the area. CISF BDDS team reached at the spot and checked the bag as per SOP. After ascertaining that there was no dangerous/hazardous item inside the bag, it was opened.

On opening the bag, they found jewellery items such as six bangles, six pairs of ear rings, two chains, three necklaces and seven rings, medicines and used clothes inside the bag.

During physical checking of the bag, some visiting cards were also found inside the bag. On getting contact details from visiting card, a call was made to the passenger who disclosed her identity as Amir Zahan of Uttarakhand, who arrived from Delhi by a flight

She also disclosed that she was in hurry and forgot her hand bag containing jewellery items worth approximately Rs 5.50 lakh at arrival hall of the airport. The lady passenger came back at the airport and after proper verification, the bag containing jewellery items was handed over to her.

On getting her bag containing all jewellery items intact, she thanked CISF and appreciated the honesty displayed by CISF personnel, states a press release by Apoorv Pandey, Assistant  Inspector General, Public Relations Officer, CISF.
