CM appeal to people not to get misguided
PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has appealed to the people of Goa not to resort to protests and agitations stating that his government is listening to the people’s problems and concerned about the welfare of the State.
He said that some elements were opposing the government and creating issues because of the next Goa Assembly elections as they had no other agenda. He claimed that his government is of common man and working for all sections of the society irrespective of caste and creed.
The Chief Minister said that the government has to plan now but some people were sitting in London and opposing projects by raking up irrelevant issues. The people of Goa have to wake up and fight against these forces.
He declared that the government had cancelled the proposed port project at Betul and that the government is planning as the national highway may come up in next 20 years.
Sawant justified the need to set up the Tanwar power lines and cautioned that if the Tanwar power lines were not brought in Goa then the electricity needs of the State and the industries will not be met.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties and Goyant Kollso Naka have appealed to the government to scrap the work laying railway double track and to stop coal transportation. Goyant Kollso Naka has appealed to the people to participate in peaceful protest at Chandor on Sunday, 1st November night to oppose the double tracking work. The protest will continue till early morning of Monday.
Goyant Kollso Naka convenor Antonio D’Silva said that the State government had completely lost trust of the people and was taking anti-people and anti-national decisions. The work of laying railway double track was purely for the transportation of coal from Goa, he charged.
