Today, a solemn function commemorating the Rane Revolt at Nanus Fort, Sattari, marked a significant moment in preserving Goa’s historical legacy. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant led the ceremony by laying a wreath at the Memorial of Rane Revolt, symbolizing respect for the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.

In a gesture towards preserving history, Dr. Sawant also laid the foundation stone for the renovation of Nanus Fort and the Memorial of Rane Revolt. These initiatives signify a commitment to uphold the rich heritage of the region and ensure that future generations can appreciate the struggles and sacrifices of those who fought for freedom.

Underthe able leadership of
Dr. Sawant, numerous historical sites, including the Patradevi Monument, Hirve Guruji, and Sheshnath Wadyekar monuments, have undergone renovation, completion of which are imminent.

“During my tenure, we’ve prioritized the development and renovation of monuments to ensure that Goans remain connected to our history,” Dr. Sawant emphasized. “It’s important that we remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and strive to keep their legacy alive.”

Joining the endeavour, Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA of Poriem, announced plans to restore Dipaji Rane’s house at Kumbharkhan, designating it as a heritage site. “We owe our freedom to the sacrifices of our ancestors,” Dr. Rane affirmed. “Preserving monuments like Dipaji Rane is crucial in honouring their memory and educating future generations.”

Advocate Shivaji Desai shed light on the historical significance of the Rane Revolt, highlighting the bravery and resilience of those who participated.

The ceremony included a Police Guard of Honour, paying respects to the fallen heroes, accompanied by the National Anthem by the Police band.

Gracing the occasion were guests, including Dr. Sneha Gitte, IAS, Collector, North; Rajashri Kale, ZP Member, Nagargao; Shri Prassana Gawas, Chairperson, V.M.C Valpoi; Shri Udaysingh Rane, Sarpanch V.P. Bhironda; Uttam Parsekar, Principal Chief Engineer, PWD, along with police officers, students, and other dignitaries.
