COOPERATION MINISTER REASSURES TO PROBE MISAPPROPRIATION OF FUNDS BY VISIONARIES COOPERATIVE CREDIT SOCIETY

MARGAO: Cooperation Minister Govind Gawade on Wednesday reassured depositors that the government will hold a thorough inquiry into the misappropriation of funds by the Visionaries Cooperative Credit Society.

Speaking to a group of depositors at Margao, Gawade said “No doubt that the depositors have been cheated and there needs to be a proper investigation. We will bring the accused to book”.

He assured the depositors that the government would ensure that they will get their hand earned money and that the government will take stringent action against the chairman and board of directors of the Visionaries Co-operative Credit Society.

The Minister also stated that he will spare officials of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies if found involved in helping the directors, who committed he fraud.

He said that he was personally monitoring the matter and assured investors that they will get their monies after the completion of the ongoing audit.

Earlier, Gawade stated that to boost cooperative sector awards would be given. He was speaking at the 67th National Cooperative Week 2020 function organised by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, South Zone-Margao in collaboration with the National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi; Goa State Cooperative Union Limited and the Madgaon School Complex Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, Margao at “Fomento Amphitheatre” of Gomant Vidya Niketan hall, Margao.
