FOR SARPANCHS BY CYBER CRIME POLICE STATION
PANAJI: An interactive Cyber Crime Awareness Program was organized by Cyber Crime Police Station in Collaboration with Directorate of Panchayats on at GO’s Hall, Altinho-Panaji on Thursday, focusing on educating sarpanches and village leaders on essential digital safety practices.
Sarpanches are an important stakeholders in taking government’s initiative at the grassroot level. Hence, this initiative aimed to equip local governance leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to protect their communities from online threats.
The program, led by Rahul Gupta IPS, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime along with Ashish Shirodkar, DySP, Cyber Crime and PI Deepak Pednekar, Incharge-Cyber Crime covered topics such as identifying cyber threats, understanding online fraud schemes and preventing data breaches.
PI Vidyanand Pawar from the cybercrime unit provided hands-on training on secure online practices, highlighting how sarpanches can help raise awareness and prevent fraud in their villages.
The event was attended by over 120Sarpanches from 120 villages across Goa, all of whom expressed a commitment to implement the safety practices discussed. “In today’s digital age, it is essential that our village leaders understand the risks of cybercrime and are prepared to help their communities to stay safe online.”
The Cyber Crime Police Station encouraged sarpanches to organize the awareness sessions in their jurisdiction and call Cyber Cell staff and student volunteers being mobilised for this purpose.
