Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the development of the constituency and human resources are essential.
He was speaking at the Fugdi competition organised by Navi Disha Foundation, founded by Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, at Corlim recently.
Sawant showered praise on the Cumbarjua MLA for being one such MLA who focuses on these aspects.
“We are imparting training to the people in every constituency under the Atmanirbar Bharat, Swayampurna Goem initiative. People should take benefit of such schemes,” Sawant said.
Faldessai said that the Fudgi competition is annually held to promote women.
“Even 70-year-old women are playing Fugdi so well. Be it even rangoli and bhajan events, our aim is to give a platform to the women to showcase their talent,” he said.
He said that the chief minister is gaining in popularity, and also stressed the need of building a bridge connecting Divar to Panaji.
“There is a lot of problem for locals of Divar during emergencies, especially when people fall sick, as the ferry service is available up to 10pm. I have put forth a proposal before the chief minister and I am confident this will be a reality,” he said and praised the state budget presented recently by the chief minister.
A total of 21 Groups from Cumbarjua constituency participated in the Fugdi competition.
Winners of the competition:
1st Prize ( Rs 1 Lakh) – Pandurang Brahmeshwar Sakhylo Mandal Akhada
2nd Prize (Rs 60,000) – Satyanarayan Mahila Mandal Akhada
3rd Prize (Rs 40,000) – Gomant Bharti Mahila Mandal Karmali.
Rest of the groups received Rs 10,000 each as a token of appreciation for participating in the event.
