  3. DISTRICT MAGISTRATE IMPOSES PENALTY FOR SELLING  SUB-STANDARD FOOD ITEMS

PANAJI:  The District Magistrate cum a Adjudicating Officer, South Goa has imposed penalty of Rs 15,000 on Shri Basavraj Mahalingaiah Dhapalapur, APMC market yard Mahalingpur, Bagalkot, Karnataka for selling sub standard quality  Jaggery {Chikky}, Jaggery and Jaggery 1 Kg adding non permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine, Sunset yellow and Carmoisine).

Penalty of Rupees 10,000  imposed collectively  on Chainsingh Rathore M/s Jai Bhavani Sweets centre, Kindlem-Canacona and  Ratan Singh Rathore, M/s Shree Rathore Sweet mart and general store shop No 2/59/A2, Chaudi-Canacona  for selling substandard      Mix shev  adding non permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine).

Similarly penalty of  Rs 20,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 5,000 imposed on Prakash Manju Madival, M/s Udupi butter chakli alias Shree Ganesh product, near Maruthi School, Kodibhag, Karwar,  Mohanlal Choudhary, M/s Mohan Food products, House No 402/ D, Shantinagar Aquem, Baixo, Salcete, South Goa and  Ambarish K Bhaskaran, Vendor at M/s B K S Bakery Plot No7, Ground floor, Balli, Quepem respectively for selling sub-standard Tomato Chakli adding non permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine).

Senior food safety officer  Rajiv Korde, Food Safety Officers Sneha Gawade and Zenia Roasario of Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration filed the above adjudication cases.
