OLD GOA: Pilgrims from across India and abroad arrive at the Basilica of Bom Jesus to witness the decennial exposition of the holy relics of St. Francis Xavier, honoring 482 years of his spiritual legacy in Goa.
Most Reverend Anil Couto, Archbishop of Delhi, presides over the inaugural Mass at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, joined by over 400 priests and bishops in a profound display of faith and tradition.
The holy relics of St. Francis Xavier are carried in a special e-vehicle procession to Se Cathedral, accompanied by clergy, lay representatives, and a human chain of 1,000 youths symbolizing unity and security. “We are Messengers of the Good News” is the chosen theme for this year’s exposition, reflected in daily Masses offered in Konkani and English for the millions of expected devotees.
Devotees gather to venerate the holy relics of St. Francis Xavier, available for worship daily from 7 AM to 6 PM, continuing a centuries-old tradition of spiritual reverence.
St. Francis Xavier, canonized in 1622, continues to inspire millions with his missionary journeys and unwavering faith. His decennial exposition draws an estimated 8 million devotees over 45 days.
