
PANAJI: The son and father Tambe duo, Amit and Shrikant respectively, reached the semifinal of men’s doubles 120+ event in the Masters category of the ongoing Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025, even as the pairing of Yati Gujarathi and Sushil Gujarathi defeated Rafik Khotu and Bruce Fernandes to also reach the semis.
While Amit and Shrikant defeated Randeep Datta and Deepak Pathak 6-3, Yati and Sushil hardly had to break a sweat in their contest against Rafik and Bruce, 6-1, to reach the semifinal. In the same category, Dilip Londhe and Shirish Nandurdikar defeated Jeyaram Ponniah and Ramanathan Kalimuthu 6-3 to reach the quarterfinal.
In the tournament’s men’s singles 55+ event in the Masters category, Jude Cardozo overcame the challenge from Manoj Pandey 6-2 to reach the semifinal, while in the Masters men’s doubles 90+ event, Vikas Choudhary and Anant Gupta were stretched by Vinoy Parakunnil and Bruce Fernandes, 7-5, before eventually defeating the latter pair to reach the semifinal. Mano Chhabra and Bulu paired up together to put up a stellar performance in their match against Nilesh Sawant and Vijaykumar Patki to defeat the latter 7-6(4) to reach the semifinal in the same category.
In another match, Ramesh Iyer and Maheshkumar Kachare defeated Vivekanand Aparaj and Anand Jakati 6-4 to reach the quarterfinal of the men’s doubles 110+ in the Masters category.
The Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025, organised by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and the Gadre Group in collaboration with the Goa State Tennis Association, has drawn a record-breaking 533 entries. The tournament began with Masters matches on January 23, while the Open category kicks off on January 27, running until February 2.
