PANAJI: Goa Line Producers Association and Disha Creations, Porvorim have denied that the Nerul village was littered with garbage by Dharma productions after the shooting was completed and added that the allegations were baseless and attempt to defame them.

Dilip Borkar of Disha Productions told reporters that he had already replied to the notice issued to them by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) for littering the village in North Goa district.

He said that he had hired a contractor engaged by the village panchayat for 20 days at a cost of Rs 25,000 to segregate garbage and send it to the garbage treatment plant. But Sunday (October 25) being the holiday the village and the contractor did not clear the garbage and when inquired they told him that the garbage would be lifted on Monday morning. But on Monday morning the truck broke down and could not lift the garbage.

“As a social responsibility we ourselves lifted garbage by hiring a special truck but by then somebody clicked photographs and uploaded them on social media,” Borkar said.

Borkar further mentioned that whenever they shoot films in Goa, the firm engage the services of an approved contractor from South Goa district but such kind of service was not available in North Goa district and they had to depend on the contractors engaged by the village panchayats.

Goa Line Producers Association president Sandeep Kotecha also endorsed the views expressed by Borkar.
