Goa Police defeated Varad 7 in four sets (25-12, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20) the finals of the 1st All Goa Volleyball Tournament organised by Siddhi Sports and Cultural Association at Quitla Sports Ground, Aldona. The three day tournament concluded recently.

Present were Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira, and other dignitaries.
Organisers gave prize money of Rs 30000 and 20000 to Winners and Runner’s up respectively in addition to this
Faldessai sponsored Rs 20,000 for the winners and Rs 10,000 for the runners-up.

Being physically fit and remaining active are important for a person’s health, said Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Faldessai thanked the organisers for inviting him and organising such a prestigious tournament. He emphasised on being physically active.

“A person must remain physically fit, exercise and play sports. This is very important. In my constituency, I am primarily focussing on health, sports and education. This is very important,” he said.

Ferreira congratulated the organisers and both the teams for making it to the finals.

“I remember during my childhood days we used to go to watch volleyball tournaments. Teams like Customs, Goa Police and Crown Club Santa Cruz. Sports is something you need practice, you can’t just get up and start running and playing. It requires practice, discipline and consistency,” he said.
