Panaji: On 29th October 2023, The Goa Sports Council of the Deaf organized their 4th All Goa Deaf Football Tournament at St. Francis Xavier’s Training Cum Production Centre for Children with Disability,Old Goa.
Fr. Maverick Fernandes, Director of Caritas, Goa graced the occasion as the chief Guest. Fr.Savio Fernandes and Fr. Rozario Walter D’Souza also showed their presence. The President of GSCD, John Justine Fernandes and General Secretary Sagar Kerkar expressed their happiness and views on organizing the Tournament.
Fr. Maverick applauded the players for a good show of Sportsmanship and skill. He also appreciated the efforts of the Goa State Council of Deaf (GSCD) for organizing such sports event to boost bonding and Fellowship within the Deaf community .
South Goa Deaf Team won the Tournament by scoring 4 goals against 1 goal by North Goa Deaf Team. Chandrashas Jhangil was awarded as Best Goalkeeper, Devaraj Asangi won the Golden Boot award by scoring 2 goals , and Rahul Jhangil won the Best Goal.
The referees were Kazmiro Fernandes, Ajith Roman , Sagar Kumar and Bloyd Dias.
