GOYANT KOLLSO NAKA APPEAL TO SBI TO STOP FUNDING COAL COMPANIES

PANAJI: Goyanant Kollso Naka, an organisation opposing the work of laying railway double tracks has now appealed to the State Bank of India (SBI) not to finance he coal companies failing which they will reconsider their deposits in the nationalised bank.

Goyant Kollso Naka has lodged their strong protest against the proposal being considered by the SBI to fund the Australian coal mine project of Adani Group.

In the face of the climate crisis, this is akin to funding the destruction of our planet and the extinction of our own species. Goa is under severe threat due to this proposed coal mine since the coal is destined to be handled and transported through Goa, destroying our State and its economies totally, said Goyant Kollso Naka convenor Antonio D’Silva.

D’Silva submitted a letter to the SBI, Margao branch manager and requested him to forward the same to the management of the bank and impress upon them that failure to reject the proposal to fund the coal mines of Adani Group in Australia will force the people to reconsider their deposits and investments in SBI and its associates.

SBI is the country’s largest lender.
