Veteran journalist and member of Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), Paul Fernandes, will be celebrated in the ‘Behind The Byline’, know your GUJ member series, on Friday, September 27.

Fernandes will be in conversation with Vijay Desouza, Editor, The Navhind Times, at the GUJ hall, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, 4pm.

With an illustrious career spanning over four decades in the field of journalism, veteran journalist Paul Fernandes has worked as a proof reader, sub-editor, reporter, correspondent and editor at various publications.

Regarded as Goa’s ‘Green Journalist’, Paul Fernandes started his career as a proof-reader in West Coast Times in 1979. He joined Novem Goem, a Konkani Roman script daily in 1985 as sub-editor-cum reporter, before joining Herald in 1988.

After four years at the English daily, he joined Gomantak Times as a reporter in 1992. He also worked as Goa correspondent for national daily Pioneer in 1995 and was invited to work with The Navhind Times in 1996. He came back to Gomantak Times in 1998, where he continued till he left to join The Times of India in 2008 and retired with the newspaper as Senior Assistant Editor in 2016.

After his retirement, Fernandes continues as a freelancer for TOI.

He writes on the environment, heritage issues, comunidades, social and other issues.

During his career, he has written for Outlook, Readers’ Digest, Goa Today, The Week and other publications.
