The Goa Union of Journalists will honour two veteran rural journalists, Ramnath Desai (Bicholim) and Dayanand Rane (Vasco), for their dedicated service in the field of rural journalism.

The felicitation of a rural journalist is held every year in honour of veteran journalist Suresh Walve.

The felicitation will be part of the GUJ Journalism Awards ceremony to be held on the 46th GUJ Foundation Day on Wednesday, July 26, at the Institute Menezes Braganza hall in Panaji at 9:30 am

Winners of the GUJ Journalism competition 2021 and 2022 will be presented with awards.

As part of the 2nd GUJ Foundation Day Lecture series, a panel discussion will be held on the topic ‘MEDIA CREDIBILITY IN THE TIME OF FAKE NEWS’.

The resource persons are Rajesh Menon {Resident Editor- The Times of India- Goa}, Nidhin Valsan IPS {Superintendent of Police- North Goa} and Pandurang Gaonkar (Editor- Goan Varta}. The panel discussion will be moderated by veteran journalist Sandesh Prabhudesai.

The 46th GUJ Foundation Day celebration and awards presentation ceremony will be graced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and Director, Department of Information and Publicity, Dipak Bandekar.

The Goa Union of Journalists requests the journalists fraternity to attend the ceremony and make the event a success.
