
FARMAGUDI: A total of nine individuals were penalized for the offense of illegal waste disposal, resulting in the collection of Rs 22,500 during an enforcement operation carried out by officials from the Goa Waste Management Corporation at Farmagudi on Friday.
The operation took place between 6 am and 10 am near Harmony Circle, targeting habitual offenders and imposing fines on those discarding waste along the roadway.
The primary objective of this initiative was to raise awareness and maintain vigilance in areas with persistent littering issues, while encouraging the public to utilize the services of the panchayat or municipality for waste disposal instead of resorting to illegal dumping.
This enforcement drive was conducted under the supervision of Saiel Kamat, Assistant Manager of the Goa Waste Management Corporation, alongside Siddhant Desai, Junior Environmental Engineer from the Goa State Pollution Control Board, and Krupesh Dessai, Engineer at the Goa Waste Management Corporation.
