History sheeter arrested for assaulting social activist
PONDA: The Ponda police on Monday arrested history sheeter Agnelo Fernandes alias Veerappan (37) of Vizar- Panchawadi on the charge of assaulting Progressive Front of Goa convenor Adv Hridaynath Shirodkar at Panchawadi, Shiroda on Saturday.
Agnelo’s wife and their accomplice Bruno Souza and three other unknown assailants are absconding.
Police have registered a case against the accused under sections 323, 504, 506 (ii) read with 149 of IPC.
Police have also booked a case against main accused Agnelo Fernandes under sections 188 and 269 for lockdown violations and removing the face mask of the victim.
PSI Abhinav Shirodkar is conducting investigations under the guidance of Ponda PI Mohan Gaude.
