PORVORIM: In a major breakthrough, Porvorim police have arrested college student and habitual offender (who was involved in fourteen house burglary cases) for committing house burglaries across North Goa.
The name of the arrested person were given as Maria Santana Baptista ( 44-yr-old), resident of Pedda Grande, Benaulim and Mohammed Sufiyan (20-yr-old ), a resident of Calconda, Navelim.
According to North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal, after reporting of three theft cases for past few months in May 2024 and September 2024 , Porvorim Police had carried out extensive field investigation and managed to trace both the accused at Margao on Wednesday.
Both the accused were identified through CCTV camera footage wherein they used to target houses by breaking sliding doors/windows and by wearing masks, said North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal.
The investigation was carried out under supervised by SP North Akshat Kaushal, SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and consisted of PI Rahul Parab, PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Mandar Parab, PSI Mayur Sawant, PSI Pratik Tulaskar, PSI Akash Chodankar, PSI Arun Shirodkar, PSI Sachin Shirodkar, ASI Umesh Pawaskar, Head constable Vinay Shirvastava, constables Nitesh Gaude, Mahadev Naik, Utkarsh Dessai, Akash Navelkar, Akash Naik, Baptist Mascarenhas, Harishchandra Palekar, Sagar Naik, Aniket Sawant and Ramnath Madkaikar.
