
In a significant development, Dr. G. Shrinivas has taken over as the new Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Goa. Following his appointment, Dr. Shrinivas met with the Honorable Governor of Goa Shri Sridharan Pillai to seek guidance and discuss strategies for strengthening IGNOU and distance education in the state.
Dr. Shrinivas, a seasoned academician in Open and Distance learning brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Panaji and Mumbai Region. With his expertise and vision, he aims to further expand IGNOU’s reach and improve access to quality education in Goa.
Under Dr. Shrinivas’ leadership, IGNOU Goa is expected to introduce new programs and initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance the learning experience. His focus on strengthening distance education will enable more students, especially those from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue higher education.
The IGNOU Regional Centre, Panaji, currently serves over 10 active study centers across Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra ². With Dr. Shrinivas at the helm, the center is poised to play a more significant role in promoting open and distance learning in the region. IGNOU offers 334 academic Programmes and has more than 3.2 million students taking benefit of Higher education and stands as largest Open University in the world.
