KONKAN RAILWAY BOOK 21 ACTIVISTS FOR UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY

MARGAO: The Konkan Railway police have registered cases against 21 activists for forming unlawful assembly on the railway track and also under Railway Act 1989.

Police said that as per the complaint, two persons are known and 19 are unknown persons.

Polcie said that the accused persons including Maxson Fernandes and Francis Colaco with their common intention trespassed on the railway track and stopped the railway construction work by threatening the railway workers at Davorlim.

Konkan Railway PI Hiru Kavlekar said that based on the complaint filed by SWR Railway Vikas Nigam section engineer  Avinash Guntupalli, a case has been registered against 21 persons under sections 143, 147, 356, 379 and  506, (ii) read with 149 IPC and under section 146, 147 and 151 of the Indian Railways Act.

The complainant has stated that the accused persons trespassed on the railway track at Davorlim where the construction of railway track was underway and stopped the railway construction work by threatening the labourers working at the site.

Following a complaint, the police visited the spot and conducted the panchanama. Further investigation is in progress, PI Kavlekar said.
