This Session, all three Congress MLAs along with other Opposition MLAs will raise sufferings of all “Baabde Goemkars” who are pushed to hardships by most insensitive BJP Government which is now headless and has become “Khatkhatem Sarkar”, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao while speaking to the Media at the beginning of the commencement of the Seventh Session of Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly.

Today, Government Bulldozed the Question Hour as the chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant was rattled to face the Opposition on Contentious issues like National Education Policy, Shifting of Airlines from Dabolim Airport and increase in Power Tariffs. We will take the next earliest opportunity to seek answers from the Government, stated Yuri Alemao.

After the Commencement of the Assembly Sesson, the first issue raised by the Leader of Opposition was pertaining to the long pending Renovation work of the Chieftains Memorial at Cuncolim to which the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured to take up the work immediately.

During the discussion on Calling Attention on Discharge of Sewage, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao raised the issue of Water Tankers transporting Sewage. He also highlighted that the Government has no mechanism to monitor Water Tankers carrying Sewage. The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured him to look into the issue.

Work related to Purple Fest 2023 included Construction & Installation of various items to make Miramar Beach accessible to Persons with Disabilities spending 49 Lakhs. None of the Beaches in Goa including Miramar are accessible to Persons with Disabilities, pointed Yuri Alemao while participating in the discussion on Calling Attention on Accessibility to Persons with Disabilities.

Speaking further on the same issue, Yuri Alemao stated that Government Spent 13.71 crores to make 22 Buildings accessible under Phase I of the Accessible India Campaign. 45 Buildings were identified under Phase II. Persons with Disabilities still find it difficult to access Government Buildings including Goa Legislative Complex.
