Panaji: Thanking the Modi government for making the Ram Lalla idol consecration day a reality for Indians, Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Sunday urged everyone to celebrate Diwali for 5 days at their homes as part of the Pran Pratishtha day.
He was speaking at Cumbharjua Mahila Melawa on Sunday.
Present were Sulalshana Sawant, Arti Bandodkar, President, Bharatiya Mahila Morcha, Goa, Old goa sarpanch Medha Parvatkar, St Estavao sarpanch Smitha Sawant, Cumbharjua deputy sarpanch Vindha Joshi, Karmali deputy sarpanch Reshma Korgaonkar and other dignitaries.
Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has told us to celebrate Diwali for 5 days. Let us visit the temples in our neighborhood and take Darshan of the deity. After nearly 500 years, we will get this see this day become a reality on Monday. I don’t think this day would have come of the modi government was not there. We will get to see Ram Rajya. I pray for the good health of the prime minister,” he said while addressing a crowd of over 6000 people.
He said that they are conducting a rally tomorrow at 9.30am from his office to Cumbarjua as part of the celebrations
“We have been organising cleaning programmes in churches and temples under the leadership of our prime minister and chief minister as part of the celebrations. We will be visiting all temples in the constituency,” he said.
He said that the annual Fugadi programme has been postponed due to the exams.
“Following a request from our women, we have pushed forward the fugdi programme due to exams. So hence we decided to have this small gettogther for women instead. I thank all of you for coming for this at short notice. All arrangements have been made to pick up and drop you all. We continously hold programmes for your benefit. We are also taking up development works, ” he said.
” I thank the Montford Brothers for giving us their ground for this programme. I thank my entire team for working tirelessly for the past 4 days for this event,” he said.
