Panaji: Stating that a company in his constituency has been uncooperative in giving jobs to the constituents, Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Saturday said that he will raise this issue in the ongoing monsoon session next week. He was speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Open Space Beautification Project’ (shade) near the Mahadev Temple, at Gavant, Cumbarjua. The project has been executed by Corlim-based Deccan Fine Chemicals under its CSR initiative.
Those present were Cumbarjua Sarpanch Nandakumar deputy sarpanch Sachin Gaude, panch members Sudhir Phadte, Suresh Naik, Vinda Joshi, Shet, Kiran Dessai and Gaurav Kudchadkar from Deccan Fine Chemicals, and others. Praising Deccan Fine Chemicals for completing many works in the constituency, he said that one company has been ignoring his requests.
“The shed is quite spacious and this was a necessity here at this temple. Deccan Fine Chemicals earlier gave benches for a small school at Karmali at the cost of Rs 7.50 lakhs. The company is concerned about the education needs of children. They have completed so many other works. They are very proactive. They have also given so many jobs for our youth. Syngenta, on the other hand, has not given any jobs for the local youth of our constituency. Even don’t give other assistance, nor do they cooperate. I have instructed the local panchayat not to entertain any of their requests. I have also decided to raise this issue in the ongoing assembly session. When a company is making crores of rupees as profit from their plant in our village, the least they can do is provide some jobs for our local youth,” he said.
Shet praised the Faldessai for his work as MLA. “Our MLA is very enthusiastic in working, Even before becoming the MLA, he had this quality, which ultimately helped him. He is even talking about the next works. Even the deputy sarpanch is energetic. Deccan Fine Chemicals has been very helpful is taking up many works in the locality. We have a lot of uneducated employed, as well as those youth who have only completed basic education. We need some help for them in getting jobs,” he said.
