PANAJI: IRB constable Amit Naik, who assisted land grab suspect Sidiqui, also known as Suleman Khan, in evading custody from the crime branch lock-up in Ribandar, turned himself in to the Hubbali police late Friday night.
It is important to note that the land grabber was apprehended over a month ago in connection with various land grabbing cases, and the escape, which has embarrassed the police, was orchestrated by the IRB constable.
This alarming security lapse was recorded by CCTV cameras, which clearly depicted Siddiqui fleeing the crime branch lock-up on Naik’s motorcycle at 2:30 am on Friday. Furthermore, police sources indicate that Siddiqui Suleman Khan had allegedly offered Rs 3 crores to constable Amit Naik to facilitate his escape from the crime branch lock-up, with a promise of payment upon reaching Karnataka.
