The members of Mahila Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday slammed the BJP government for failing to provide economic empowerment, safety and reservation for women.

Chairperson Beena Naik on Wednesday addressed a press conference in Congress house and said that the Narendra Modi government has failed in all aspects.

“Be it crediting 15 lakhs in the saving accounts of people or giving a safe environment to the womenfolk, BJP’s double engine and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have failed. They have even failed to provide employment to the youths,” Naik said.

“Women of our country need political empowerment, mere announcement of 33 percent reservation will not help, it should come into reality and that too before Lok Sabha election,” Naik said.

She said that BJP has increased the aspiration of the public by announcement, but it seems it is a tactic of BJP to garner votes of women. “If they are true to their decision then they should implement reservation from Lok Sabha election. Why are they hoodwinking women of the country.” She questioned.

She said that BJP government failed to protect dignity of women during Manipur violence, where womens were raped and no action was taken. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi even failed to visit Manipur. This shows how insensitive he is about women’s safety,” Beena Naik said.

Panaji Block President Adv. Lavinia Dcosta said that BJP has failed to provide economic empowerment to the women. “BJP has failed to control inflation. The prices of essential items are skyrocketing every passing day. Poor and middle class families are suffering due to this, but BJP has no concern. They are working in the interest of crony capitalists and making them rich,” she said.

General Secretary Sahi……… said that buildings of Anganwadi, Balwadis and primary schools are in dilapidated conditions and BJP has turned Nelson’s Eye on it. “BJP speak about providing facilities, we cant see them in these institutions. Even it failed to provide washroom facilities at many places,” she said.
