Manipal Hospitals, Goa in association with Block Development Officer (BDO) Tiswadi and Goltim Navelim Village Panchayat, has organised the workshop on Pre-Hospital Care & Basic Life Support under the RAKSHAK program (an initiative with the Government of Goa in adding skills to the people of Goa by providing Basic Life Support Training to face emergency situations) for the elected members of the Goltim Navelim Village Panchayat.

In continuation of the Pre Hospital Care & Basic Life Support workshop under the RAKSHAK program being provided by Manipal Hospitals, Goa since October 2022, the island ‘Divar’ was identified as an island where it was felt that the need of the hour was to train the islanders under the RAKSHAK program with Pre Hospital Care & Basic Life Support training so that in case of any medical emergency the villagers could act proactively and render the necessary medical care until the patient is taken to the nearest hospital.

So under the leadership of Mr Anil Dumaskar, Block Development Officer of Tiswadi, and in consultation with Mr. Mario Pinto, Sarpanch of Goltim Navelim Village Panchayat, the much-needed Pre-Hospital Care and Basic Life Support training under the RAKSHAK program was provided to the elected members of the Goltim Navelim Village panchayat on 18th June 2023.

The training was provided by the Emergency and Trauma doctor and medical team of Manipal Hospitals, Goa, and was well appreciated by the members of the panchayat who expressed their desire to have many such medical training sessions.

Commenting on this, Mr. Surendra Prasad, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospitals, Goa, said, “It is a matter of great pride for Manipal Hospitals, Goa that the much needed Pre Hospital Care and Basic Life Support training under the RAKSHAK program was provided to the elected members of the Goltim Navelim Village panchayat.”
