
MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA and deputy speaker Joshua D’souza said that the dry waste collection centre is a significant step towards making Mapusa cleaner and more sustainable and same will cater to a large number of vendors, shopkeepers, and visitors, reducing the burden on traditional waste management systems and promoting a cleaner environment for all.
Joshua D’souza was speaking after inaugurating the state’s first-of-its-kind Dry Waste Collection Centre (DWCC) opposite Union Pharmacy, Mapusa Market Entrance, set up by Anubhuti Welfare Foundation.
Speaking further, Joshua D’souza said citizens can now deposit their segregated dry waste at the collection centre and receive incentives based on the category of waste they provide besides this system not only encourages responsible waste disposal but also helps eliminate multiple black spots that were identified in and around the market area.
Mausa Municipal Council Chairperson Priya Mishal, Councillors Shubhangi Vaigankar, Dr Nutan Bicholkar, Chandrashekar Benkar, Prakash Bhivshet; Chinmay Kelkar (Executive – Projects, Anubhuti Welfare Foundation), Ila Joseph (Project Head, Anubhuti Welfare Foundation), and Mahesh Patil (Chairman, Goa State Pollution Control Board were present on the occasion.
