MAPUSA: Mapusa Police Station team had been diligently pursuing a gang of thieves known for their nocturnal offenses. To aid in this effort, a specialized team was deployed for night patrols in plain clothes to collect intelligence on individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior.
The team’s persistent efforts yielded success on Thursday night when two suspects were apprehended in Carona-Aldona while attempting to steal a significant quantity of advanced underground cables installed by the electricity department.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Mohammad Rehan Ali, son of Munna Ali, aged 19, residing in Chandwado, Margao and originally from Kannauj, Gursahaigang-Uttar Pradesh, Saif Ali Khan, son of Karim Khan, aged 18, residing in Zakhi Shah, Mushirwado, Colvale, Firoz Abdul Rahim Khan, aged 19, residing at C/o Zakir Shah, Mushirwado, Colvale and originally from Azadnagar, Nasik, Maharashtra, Ramu Nandu Soni, aged 21, residing at C/o Abhiraj, Kundai-Ponda and originally from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
In this case, the Mapusa Police Station has filed an offense under Cr. No. 165/2024 U/Sec. 303 (2), 324 (3), 324 (5) R/w 3 (5) of BNS, 2023 and recovered stolen items include one piece of black bunch cable measuring 5.70 meters, one hacksaw frame with a blade and two additional exo-blades, one blue Suzuki Access scooter with registration No MH-15-HV-6964, eighteen bunches of black bunch cables, ten bags of damaged aluminum cables, five bags of damaged cables and one LPG cylinder with two gas cutters.
The team involved in this operation consists of PSI Pandhari Chopdekar, head constable Sushant Chopdekar, constables Rajesh Kandolkar, Akshay Patil, Prakash Polekar, Anand Rathod and Mahendra Chari.
