The 2nd edition of the Matiechem Fest celebrating Millets and Agriculture – will be held on 8th October 2023 (Sunday) from 3pm to 10pm, at St. John The Baptist Church courtyard, Pilerne Goa.
This event curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes will be his 80th peoples’ festival, hosted by Fr Derrick Fernandes and the villagers of Pilerne and organised by PASCA.
The festival begins with a Alvorade at 5am. At 3pm, a Pasoi Heritage walk, along with colourful flags and a brass band, followed by street dance performances by five groups from the village. There will be a Ghumot/Drum circle along with percussion instruments lead by Domingos Soares.
A first of its type twinning will be unveiled by parish priest of Pilerne Fr. Derrick Fernandes. Pilerne village known as the Potters village and Carambolim the Food basket of Goa will be twinned. Both villages share a common saint St. John The Baptist and both villages have lakes that have been notified by the Goa Government as wetlands.
The festival is a packed with multicultural Konkani. programmes including Deuli dance, Konkani skits, Pilerne sunshine band, goan food stalls, grafting session, Millet pudding (nachnem)tasting and much much more.
