VASCO: In a proactive effort to tackle the growing menace of plastic waste, Mormugao Municipal Council  (MMC) has initiated a drive aimed at promoting eco-friendly alternatives in local markets. On Tuesday, council chairperson Girish Borker led the initiative by distributing cloth and decomposable bags to vendors, emphasizing the importance of reducing plastic usage.

During the operation, Borker personally collected plastic bags from market vendors and issued stern warnings against their continued use. He made it clear that failure to comply with these regulations could result in fines imposed by the council.

As the city strives for a cleaner, greener environment, the MMC’s commitment to eliminating plastic is a crucial step in safeguarding both public health and the natural landscape. The council urges all residents and vendors to join this movement towards a plastic-free Vasco.
