MUSLIMS UPSET AS DABOLIM AIRPORT REMOVED AS EMBARKATION POINT FOR HAJ

PANAJI: Muslim community in Goa is upset after Dabolim international airport was recently removed as embarkation point for the Haj pilgrimage.

Mostly Muslims who are above 70 years of age go for Haj pilgrimage hence they need an airport in Goa to board the flight to Saudi Arabia. Going all the way to Mumbai is difficult for them.

Muslims also said that pilgrims from Karwar, Belgaum, Bhatkal, Ratnagiri, and surrounding areas take the flight from Dabolim Airport. Hence they requested the Goa government and All India Haj Committee chairman Shaikh Jina to urge the Union government to restore Dabolim airport as an embarkation point.

They also appealed to Jina to urge the Government of India to restore Dabolim airport as embarkation point.

When contacted, All India Haj Committee chairman Shaikh Jina said Government of India has issued new guidelines for Haj pilgrims due to  COVID-19 pandemic and that he will address a press conference on Monday, November 16 and give details of new guidelines.
