National Handloom Day will be celebrated in the State by the Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir on 7th August, 2023 at Sanskruti Bhavan, Pato-Panaji. The program will be inaugurated by Minister of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir, Shri Ravi Naik.

To generate awareness about the importance of handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, 7th August is celebrated as ‘National Handloom Day’ every year. One of the key objectives of this initiative is to promote Handlooms, increase income of weavers and enhance pride in their work.

Certificates will be distributed to the students of the vocational stream (Fashion Design and Marking) for having completed the weaving course training. The promotional schemes for the Handloom Weaving will also be discussed and explained to the needy artisans on the day.
