NCP GOA OPPOSE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS
PANAJI: The Goa unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday took strong exception to reopening of X and XII classes in the State from November 21 and demanded that the Goa government should reconsider its decision in the larger interest of student community.
Addressing a press conference, NCP State president Jose Philip D’Souza said that nearly 36,000 students, both X and XII standard will have to go to schools to attend their regular classes and the PTS (Parent-Teacher Association) has already taken undertaking from the parents that they will not take any responsibility if students contract Coronavirus infection.
He pointed out that in Andhra Pradesh after schools were reopened, as many as 270 students and 117 teachers were tested COVID-19 positive. He demanded that the Goa government should ensure the safety and health of students and reconsider its decision.
Jose Philip and Benaulim NCP legislator Churchill Alemao opposed any plan to make Goa a coal hub and extended party’s support to the people fighting against coal transportation.
Meanwhile, NCP will open its new office at Malbarao Building, Panaji at 4 pm on November 22. On the occasion, NCP national general secretary and Goa incharge Praful Patel and other party leaders will be present.
