Faldessai emphasised the need to strengthen bunds so that fields can be protected from the ingress of saline water and be taken up for cultivation.
“Work on the 1.5-km bund has started today. This is a very joyous moment. For our fields to be cultivated, our bunds have been fortified. This bund work will be completed in another 6-7 months. I thank everyone. We need everyone’s cooperation for the work.
We have to work to make the dream of Divar villagers to protect their fields a reality. And for that I urge everyone not to oppose such works,” he said.
“Our government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, is working continuously. We have inspected the inundation of fields in Cumbarjua as well. Teams by the WRD and Agriculture Departments were sent to the site and work will begin there in another 10 days and will be taken up at an approximate cost of Rs 6-7 crores,” the legislator said.
The work has been technically sanctioned by the Superintending Engineer, Circle-I (Minor Irrigation) Water Resources Department. It will be executed through the Executive Engineer, Soil Conservation Division, Directorate of Agriculture under CPWD procedure.
