Not less than 30 former student leaders of the ‘70s and ‘80s would assemble at the launch of the function that would serialise the historic students’ movement of Goa at ManoShobha Kalaghar at Loliem-Canacona on Saturday, September 28.
Edition 1.0 of the series would cover Goa’s first mass students’ agitation demanding 50% bus concession in 1978 and two GMC scandals of reservation of seats and the most shameful Marks Scandal by the then education minister in 1979-80.
The three-hour-long function from 4 pm onwards will be attended by several former student leaders who rose in their lives and are considered to be veterans in their respective fields today.
Those who will attend the function include businessmen and writer Datta Damodar Naik, eminent medical practitioners Dr Mukul Mahatme and Dr Meenaxi Martins, veteran artists Dr Subodh Kerkar and Harshada Kerkar, eminent actors Jeevan Mayekar and Prashanti Talpankar, veteran writers Dilip Borkar, Bhiku Bomi Naik and Ratnamala Divkar, successful businessmen like Atul Jadhav, Vallabh Salkar and Amol Navelkar, history researcher Dr Sushila Mendes, political activists Mohandas Lolienkar, Avinash Bhosle, Prashant Naik, Satish Painginkar and Devendra Prabhudesai, leading lawyers Adv Cleofato Almeida Coutinho and Adv Caroline Collaso, renowned tiatrist and writer Teotonio D’Costa, social activists Avertino Miranda and Socorro Fernandes, journalist Sandesh Prabhudesai and many more from various other fields.
At the function, Mohandas Lolienkar will speak on the 50% bus concession agitation and the session will be moderated by Sankalp Gaunkar, a student of VMS Law College of Panaji. Adv Cleofato Almeida Coutinho would speak on the GMC scandals and the session would be moderated by Dr Sachin Moraes, assistant professor of Chowgule College.
The function is organised j ointly by ManoSobha Kalaghar and Palash Agni Studios.
Sudesh Prabhudesai, general secretary of the ManoShobha Kalaghar, has appealed to all the people, especially the younger generation, to attend the function in large numbers.
