AGAINST ASSISTANT PROF PRANAV NAIK

PANAJI: Agassaim police have filed a FIR against Assistant Professor of Physics Pranav Naik, who is said to have leaked a question paper to a female student at Goa University.
Police have been contacted to look into “unauthorized unlawful activities carried out by him (Naik),” the institution said in a statement.
Based on the allegation submitted by S N Dhuri, Registrar of Goa University, Naik has been accused in the FIR under several sections pertaining to trespassing, cheating, and forgery with the purpose to deceive.
According to Professor Dhuri’s police complaint, Naik illegally entered several faculty members’ cabins without their permission, made duplicate keys to their cabins without their consent, violated their privacy and security, and helped one girl student cheat on an exam, thereby defrauding other students.
“The university had constituted a fact-finding committee to submit a prima facie report on the alleged matter,” the university stated in a statement earlier in the day.
“And based on the committee’s report, the university has filed a complaint with the police inspector at the Agassaim Police Station to file a formal complaint against Dr Pranav Naik in order to look into the illegal activities he carried out that were not authorized,” the institution said.
The statement also made it clear that during its meeting in the final week of March, the university’s Executive Council will determine whether to take proper disciplinary action against the instructor.
The investigation into the purported paper leak was taken over by the government on Thursday.
