Speaking at the 3rd Manohar Parrikar Memorial Lecture on Indigenisation of Bharat’s Defence : Status, Prospectus & Challenges organised by Forum for Integrated National Security on the occasion of Death Anniversary of Late Shri. Manohar Parrikar held at ESG, Panaji, yesterday, Governor of Goa Sreedharan Pillai said that Late Manohar Parrikar was the politician with a difference.

Governor further expressed his views that the Former Defence Minister was not only a champion of power politics but also ideological politics. It is a proud moment to all goans that Goa produced a great national leader, he concluded.

Remembering Parrikar on the 3 rd Death Anniversary, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said Parrikar ‘s immense contribution towards Goa and people of Goa will never be forgotten. He further informed that Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholarship Scheme which was conceptualized by former Chief Minister with the objective to identify and encourage outstanding young scholars from Goa to pursue their education in India and abroad will continue to benefit meritorious students.

Dr Pramod Sawant also stated that it is a proud moment for goans that the Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Goa Shipyard Limited for construction of 8 fast patrol vessels for the Indian coast guard. This contract will boost India’s ship building capacity and will help to increase employment opportunities in the sector and support the government to resolve India’s manufacturing hub, he added.

Minister for Industries Shri Mauvin Godinho addressing the gathering said that we have to integrate ourselves, with the challenges before us ,with our minds and also as one society .Paying tribute to Late Parrikar he said that while remembering Parrikar ‘s thought, vision, way of functioning will continue to inspire generation to work harder towards better futuristic goals for our State and country.

Lieutenant General Shri Vinod Khandare, Principal Adviser in the Ministry of Defence who was key speaker of the function conducted a lecture on Indigenisation of Bharat’s Defence : Status, Prospectus & Challenges.

Also present on the occasion were First lady of Bihar Smt Megha Arlekar, Adv Bhaldesai, Secretary General of FINS, Shri Tejendra Lawande.

Chaitanya Dindarshika calendar was also launched and a Marathi translation of the book titled Manohar Parrikar Brilliant Mind, Simple life by Nitin Gokhale was also released
