PANAJI: The Crime Branch of Goa police on Tuesday arrested Deepali Parab, 42, a resident of Kalyan-Mumbai and the wife of Myron Rodrigues, in connection with alleged multi-crore investment scam. Myron, who is absconding, is the main accused in the scam, which involved cheating a large number of investors to the tune of crores and who was absconding.
The arrest was made after a thorough investigation and it was revealed that Deepali Parab was actively involved in the fraudulent activities and had played a crucial role in the scam, said Crime branch SP Rahul Gupta.
He said the investigation has revealed that the main accused and his wife had cheated investors by promising them high returns on their investments wherein the accused had collected crores of rupees from innocent investors, which they had then misappropriated for their personal gain.
Deepali Parab has been arrested in EOC case no 04/2024 under sections 406,420 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sec 3 & 5 of GPID Act and she will be produced before the Magistrate tomorrow for remand. This EOC case is under investigation at crime branch.
Earlier, the Ex-Wife of the main accused Sunita Rodrigues, who was earlier arrested and was released on Bail by District Sessions Court, Margao. She was subsequently taken into custody by MHB Colony Police Station for her involvement in their FIR No 12/24 u/s 406,409,420 r/w 34 IPC and Sec 3& 4 of MPID Act. Accused Deepali Parab is also wanted in MHB Colony police station case.
