The members of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress on Wednesday were manhandled by police while they were seeking suspension of Information Technology official for demanding one lakh rupees to provide job.

An audio clip of phone conversation between the official and the candidate has gone viral, despite that corrupt BJP government is trying to protect the former.

The youth Congress led by working president Mahesh Nadar along with the State Vice President, Vaishnav Pednekar; North Goa District President, Rinaldo Rozario and other office bearers held a protest at the Department of Information and Technology and demanded that the IT director issue an order suspending the official concerned.

“Goa has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country. Government has failed to provide jobs to youths and is involved in selling jobs. The officer who demanded money should be immediately suspended and government should resume investigation in this matter,” Nadar said.

Nadar has threatened to intensify their agitation if action against the corrupt official is not taken. “In past too we have seen how BJP government was involved in selling PWD jobs and also of other departments. Their own MLA Atanasio Monserrate had exposed it. But instead of taking action against job sellers, this government is protecting them and boasting of ‘transparency’ and also of zero tolerance to corruption,” he said.

According to Nadar, the official is clearly heard to be aspirant to pay money for the job.

Rinaldo Rozario slammed the government for protecting the corrupt officials and fostering trend of selling jobs.

“While we tried to sit in the IT department demanding the suspension of official, police present manhandled and forcefully took us out of the office. This is goondagiri and nothing else. Government is using its machinery when we raise issues,” he said.
