Porvorim Police have raided a premises at Socoor where illegal online cricket betting operations were being conducted.
As per PI Porvorim PS an information was received late night on 08/12/2023 that in a house at Socoor, Bardez – Goa. Accordingly a raiding team was formed and a raid was conducted on the house in Kamat Nagar, Socoor.
During the raid laptops and mobile phones used to accept bets on various cricket leagues, all worth Rs. 1,50,000/- were seized from the premises.
The accused persons have been identified as 1. Mr. Tejeshwar Rao, age – 24 yrs N/o Durg, Chattisgarh 2) Mr. Gagan Kumar Suman, age 23 yrs N/o Madhya Pradesh, 3) Mr. Mukesh Kumar Jat, age 21 yrs N/o Rajasthan, and 4) Mr. Karan Pal, age – 25 yrs N/o Madhya Pradesh.
All accused were arrested under sections 3 & 4 of Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
The raiding team was led by PI Rahul Parab and consisted of PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Sanket Talkar, constables Mahadev Naik, Utkarsh Dessai, Bhikaji Parab, Yogesh Shinde, Siddhesh Naik and Nitesh Gaude.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
