The first ever Nachneachem fest celebrating the millets – Ragi will be held on Sunday, 12th March, 2023 from 11am to 5pm, at the Agricultural Farm, Duler, Mapusa. The festival is curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes and Dr. Gwendolyn De Ornelas and organised by the Directorate of Agriculture. Millet, once a staple diet of traditional Indian cooking fell out of favour over the years and is been making a slow comeback in India and across the globe. To keep this momentum going, The United Nations has declared 2023 as The International Year of this crop, supported by India and the Government of Goa. This first and unique event will be a zero waste fest, revival of our foods and Inclusive with a celebration of Goan culture, knowledge, economic empowerment of communities, music, revival of food and recipes and Inclusion of all communities. We invite you for a press conference to brief you about all these aspects and much more about this festival at 03:30pm, at Krishi Bhavan, Tonca, Caranzalem on 9th March, Thursday, 2023.
