PRIVATE BUS OWNERS THREATEN TO TAKE LAW INTO THEIR HANDS TO SEEK THEIR DEMANDS

PANAJI: The All Goa Private Bus Owners Association (AGPBOA) on Monday threatened that they will take the law into their hands if their demands are not resolved by the Directorate of Transport at the earliest.

The private bus operators on Monday mached to the office of the directorate of transport and wanted to meet the director.  AGPBOA general secretary Sudip Tamhankar said that they will not give more time to the directorate of transport to settle their demands and demanded that the government should sue the director of transport as he was hiding behind the doors of his office and had no guts to face the association.

“I don’t know why the director of transport is scared of meeting us. He has not daring to face us and is hiding inside the office,” Tamhankar said.

Tamhankar had put forward the demands to the directorate of transport to waive of the road tax, passenger tax, 15 per cent penalty for one-year and to cancel the permissions given to the State-owned KTC buses during the lockdown period to operate in villages.

The Association had given a period of seven days to the government resolve these issues but the director of transport had not done anything in his regard, he said.
