PROBE INTO VILAS METHAR MURDER IN RIGHT DIRECTION: CM
PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that investigation in RTI activist Vilas Methar, who was murdered by setting ablaze at Salvador do Mundo was in the right direction and that the mastermind of the crime will be arrested shortly.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function at Mapusa, Sawant said, “Investigation is in the right direction. We cannot disclose ongoing probe to the public. I have faith in my police department and the master will be arrested shortly.”
The Chief Minister said that the government has created two new police districts at Mapusa and Ponda with the existing manpower.
He said that new police districts were required for better and effective control over law and order and prevention of crime.
RTI activist Vilas Methar was killed after he was set ablaze by some persons at Torda-Salvador do Mundo last month.
On Tuesday, the Porvorim residents and social activists held a candle light vigil to seek justice for late Methar.
The Porvorim police have so far arrested six persons in this connection.
